Oil prices, as well as gasolene prices, continue to fall. Was Steve Forbes right in predicting an oil market crash? It is to be furiously hoped. In the mean time, don't sell the Escalade/Mountaineer/H3/X-Terra JUST yet. It is now below $2.10/gal here in your correspondent's area of operations.

Either important people ARE reading your humble correspondent's work or it is a matter of serendipity. Either way, it is good to see the West improving relations with India.

The Global War on Islamofascism continues apace. It bears mentioning that both India and Australia are on the "Dream Team" list from several days ago.

We heard on the news on the way to work that the French police are "concerned" about the rioting in France. 300 cities in flames, and they're "concerned". We suggest the French need new police. As we said yesterday, somebody should have noticed this a LONG time ago. France is the best of possible cases for controlled immigration as to allow the immigrant class time to assimilate. The nation of France is in flames, and they authorize CURFEWS. We think it might be time for La Republique Francaise to declare the Sixth Republic and unleash the Foreign Legion on the rioters.

"The court handed down a set of opinions declaring a limit to Bush's war powers in June 2004, when Justice Sandra Day O'Connor declared that a ''state of war is not a blank check for the President."

We have news for the learned Chief Justice. The President is, in fact, Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces during times of war AND peace. The judiciary in no way shape or form has any power whatsoever to determine the President's powers as Commander In Chief of the Military. The President's powers are determined in the first week of December every fourth year when the Electoral College meets and selects the President.

Additionally, Hamdan (the suspect) is NOT an American citizen. The extension of Constitutional priveleges to non-US citizens is a thing nowhere even contemplated by any of the Framers of our Constitution. (We wonder what Judge Alito thinks of this fool notion.)

Legal activists claim Gitmo and the tribunals are somehow 'violation(s) of human rights'. We ask, what about the 3000 American citizens that were murdered in cold blood one fine Tuesday morning a few years ago for the crime of going to work? This is WAR, friends. War by definition is a violation of human rights, and any practice that can lead to a swifter end to hostilities is by definition humane; indeed, not taking actions that could end hostilities more quickly could easily be defined as immoral.

Further mention is made in the article of Geneva Convention protections. As non-uniformed combatants, we are not sure whether Geneva Convention protections would apply to Gitmo detainees. Additionally, the case has been made that in light of the fluid nature of Global Terrorism that the Geneva Conventions as currently written might well stand updating.
